As The World Mourns

People are scared, people are dying.
People are upset, and people are crying.
In troubling times of pause and crisis,
We go to our rooms sequestered and sighing.
The cycle starts over again.

People are dying, people are scared.
People are uncertain, people are unprepared.
As the number climbs higher, I wish that our government had cared.
We watched it from abroad but they’d look and ignore.
No warnings then, but now we fight an invisible war.
The cycle starts over again.
